Oshkosh August - October 2013

Leaving Wonewoc and my job in Elroy took me to a new 7 week assignment in Oshkosh, WI.  The staff there were great and as always so were most of the residents. On my last day of work, my co-workers had a pot luck, and gave me a Green Bay Packer shirt as a going away gift.  They were awesome.  Kirk and I stayed at Hickory Oaks Campground.  We barely fit in our spot, but it worked and was close to work (which I always like).  Every weekend there was booked with commitments as this would be our last assignment before going on vacation and heading south.
While in Oshkosh, Kirk and I took one weekend and drove to MN for Ady's 10th birthday party and her Jack and the Beanstalk Play.   On Labor Day weekend, we returned to CC in Wonewoc,  and enjoyed time with all our friends.  We also participated in their annual golf outing.  The theme this year was Duck Dynasty.  We had a great time wearing our camoflauge, and golfing.  Our next adventure was visiting Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, in Green Bay, WI.  Now, I'm not much of a football fan (although the GBP are the team I root for because of Ben and Nicki), but the tour of Lambeau was awesome.  I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.  Kirk and I also took a ride over to Manitowac one weekend to check out the ferry boat that travels between there and Ludington, MI.  We were thinking of taking the ferry as one of our options for when we would take our vacation.  We decided not to go that route.
While working in Oshkosh, Kirk met up with John, the campground host at Hickory Oaks.  Just so happens that John liked to golf.  Need I say more!  They became good friends and golfed at least once a week together.  Most times John found another couple to make a foursome.    On another weekend while at Oshkosh, we drove down to Iowa to spend one last weekend with Kirk's mom, Mavis before we would be heading south.  While there, Nate and Mason stopped by to visit.  Mason would be celebrating his first birthday the end of August, so we gave him his birthday present....a set of real junior golf clubs.  They are kinda dangerous for a one year old right now, but I'm sure these clubs will be the beginning of his career.
Door County was another trip we were excited about taking on a weekend.  Since it was Autumn, this was the perfect time of year to go there.  While there, we went to many places including Peninsula State park where we saw an awesome sunset, lighthouses, our first fish boil in Ephraim at The Old Post Office, wineries, cheese tasting (for Kirk), Wilson's ice cream and homemade root beer, and Al Johnson's restaurant with the goats on the roof.  Door County is a place you can never get tired of visiting.
Our very last weekend was spent going to Ben and Nicki's where the girls, Kristy, Robyn, and Ady joined us.  It would be the last weekend we would see them before going south.   While there, I attended my first Cranfest in Warrens WI.  What a busy place.  Everything for everybody.  Crazy dressed people.  And fun!  Somewhere in this month, we also attended Bella's ballet recital.  OMG, what a cutie..
