While in SA, Kirk and I were blessed to be able to enjoy the company of our old friends and neighbors from time to time. We enjoyed one of the best BBQ's in Texas at the Salt Lick with Frank and Peggy (Karin's parents....our old neighbor). The Salt Lick is a must go to if you ever get the chance. I only like to go on Sunday's though, as that is the only day they serve baby back ribs, and my favorite scalloped potatoes (they are to die for). The rest of the week, they serve brisket, sausages, and other menu favorites which are also available on Sundays. We had a great visit with Frank and Peggy and can't wait to see them again.
I should mention, just for documentation sake, that I had my first bee sting while in TX. Walking in my flip flops in Dave and Karin's backyard. Who knew bees love the clover in the grass. Anyway, being that I have never been stung, I waited for my tongue and throat to swell, and lose consciousness. But fortunately, I found that I am not allergic to bee stings...YAY! Pesky thing stung me on my big toe!
Then there is Doreen (David's mother.....Karin is married to David). She is awesome! She has ladies wine night every Friday. I was only able to go on one Friday, but we had a great time. Her lady friends are so funny and great company. Oh yeah, the wine was great! We were also invited to eat Asian food with Doreen, David, Karin, the kids, Ava and Dylan, and Frank and Peggy. They are an awesome family, and Kirk and I were very blessed to be included in their family event.
Jan and Bill are also some very good friends and old neighbors. Jan talked me into being a substitute for their monthly Bunco game. I was pretty hesitant at first, but then found out the ladies playing are very forgiving, and I had a great night.....roll the dice ladies!!! Hmmm, wonder why they never asked me back :). Kirk and Bill were also able to catch up on the golf course where Bill works (the Bandit). I believe they also had a great time.
On Halloween evening, Kirk and I bought some candy and returned to the old neighborhood. We strolled up and down the street, passed candy out to the kids walking from house to house, and visited with almost all our old neighbors. We had a wonderful visit with Larry and Carmen, Keith, Melissa and their 2 girls, Bob and Patsy, Sally and Pedro, and Bernie. I believe that if we ever decide to live in a stick home again, we may just move back to the SA area.
I think these two girls are Ava and Emmy.....it's hard to say!
Before leaving SA, I was able to get together with some of my ex-co-workers. Gabriella celebrated her birthday and we all enjoyed a good time.....she is hoot! I was extra happy to see Corinne at the party. I miss them both terribly. I can't forget my Peeps at NEM. Besides being able to work with them, some of them were able to join Kirk and I at one of our favorite tex-mex restaurants, Chuy's. This place has the best margarita's, but them I probably say that about all the mexican restaurants in SA. When you go to Chuy's have the 3-way margarita, you won't regret it.
Me, Gabriella (birthday girl), and Corinne.....love you guys!
Can't remember her name, Terry, Mady, and Frank at Chuy's. Love and miss you all!
