The next day we headed out early and landed in Texola, TX for the night. We spent the night at a very small, decent park called Double D RV park, just off I-40. Perfect for overnight AND they take Passport America ( so half price) :). It is in the middle of nowhere, so plan on eating in the RV.
On 4/5, we arrived in Van Buren, AR at Park Ridge RV Campground. It's a nice, small place right on the OK river. Probably gorgeous when everything is in bloom. This was Easter Sunday, so Kirk and I drove into town and ate at Big Jakes ( BBQ and more). Not too bad, and kind of an interesting place. The next morning was not what I had been looking forward to :(. I was driving ALONE to Minnesota while Kirk drove to Red Bay, AL to have some warranty work ( and other minor things) done on the RV. We had decided this would be a good time to go there, as the campgrounds up north were not yet open and it was still kinda cold up there. On my way up to MN, my malfunction lamp came on in the truck. Why do these things happen when I'm by myself!!!! Of course I called Kirk. I stopped at a gas station in Lathrop, MO. A lady there gave me the name of a local mechanic, SAMs He had me come right over, hooked it up to the computer, and $40 later told me it was just a misfire. Well worth it though for the piece of mind while driving alone. Arrived at Kristy's place around 1800, Robyn and Ady came over and we watched the WI/Duke championship game.
I left the girls the next day to get checked into my place in St Cloud where I will be staying till Kirk gets here with our house. I found this place on Airbnb and it's great. Sure beats staying in a motel. Cassie and Vince are wonderful and fun, and very accommodating. Highly recommend this place.
Thanks for the trail mix Molly Jo. Perfect for the road trip.
